Teacher at Uduwela, Hanthana Horticultural School and a former teacher at Kodikamam
Mrs. Kanakamani Ambalavanapillai, originally from Karampakam in the Thenmaradchi region of Chavakachcheri, Jaffna, and a former resident of Kodikamam, Sri Lanka, passed away peacefully on Saturday, 05 July 2025, in Melbourne, Australia, where she was residing permanently, at the age of 86.
She served as a teacher at Uduwela and Handana Estate Tamil Schools in Sri Lanka and later at Kodikamam Government School and Kodikamam Thirunavukkarasu Central College. After migrating to Australia, she authored several books under the pen name Mani in Melbourne.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Mr. Veluppillai and Mrs. Muthuppillai,
the loving daughter-in-law of the late Mr. Chithamparapillai and Mrs. Amirthavalli of Navatkadu and Varani,
She was also the devoted wife of the late Chithamparapillai Ambalavanapillai former Village Officer (Kodikamam, Meesalai North, and Kachchai Village Divisions),
She was the cherished sister of the late Nadarajah, the late Rasarathinam, the late Sellathangam, and the late Sivayogam, and sister-in-law of the late Rajalakshmi, Sethupillai, the late Kasinathar, and the late Kandaiya.
She was the loving mother of Ramesh (Engineer, Australia), Agani Suresh (Engineer & Writer, Canada) ,Rama (Music Teacher, Australia) ,Prema (Nurse, Australia) ,Prof. Das Nirmaladas (University of Melbourne, Australia)
She was the mother-in-law of Rajeswari (Australia) ,Jeevananthini (Canada) ,Sivarajah (Australia) ,Sarkunam (Australia) ,Geetha (Australia) ,Rajani (France) ,Pabinthira (Australia)
She was also the dear grandmother of Srirangan (France), Mohanarajah (Australia), Sayilavan, Sayanika, Krishan, the late Bairavi, Nandesh, the late Janani, Jeevini, Anikka, Abisa, Sarangan, Bairavi, Priyankan, Alex, Srivan, Sahana, Shruthi, Neel, Sayisuriya, Sayithren, Gunaraj, and Gopiraj.
